Today it is cold and gloomy here, with drizzle coming down and skies a gun metal gray. So, I thought this would be a great day for some wishful thinking.

If you could have any luxury item in a post-collapse world, what would it be? If money were no object, once all your basic needs were met, what one thing would you want in your retreat that has no immediate bearing on survival but would just be fun to have?

For me, it would be a regulation size pool table, complete with plenty of cue sticks, extra sets of balls, extra felt, and all the other necessary items to keep playing for years to come. In my teens and early twenties, playing pool was my life. I grew up working in a tavern and spent more hours on the pool table than I did doing anything else. Today, I’m quite rusty and often get frustrated when I miss shots that I used to be able to make without a second thought. My eldest son started playing in earnest on our table several months ago and looks as though he’s inherited quite a bit of his old man’s talent. We’ve been playing a lot lately and the rust on my arm is flaking off a bit at a time.

So, that would be my wish for a luxury item. Something fun to do with my family when we have down time.

How about you? What luxury would you wish for?
