Should you have one in an emergency kit? If you have room for it and can handle the extra weight, absolutely. Chopping down small trees for your shelter or trimming branches off of your squirrel pole, having an axe with you will make your work go much easier and quicker.

As a camp tool, you will use this probably every day as you continue to improve your living conditions. A camp axe will be your main work horse for splitting wood for the fire also. You really don't want to not have one of these.
