Watertight Match Box
This
watertight match box has a primary use of placing your emergency
matches inside and keeping them dry. The watertight match box has
a seal in the cap that keeps the water out. On the bottom is a flint
striking surface that you can use to create a spark. This match
safe has many other uses in addition to keeping your matches dry.
It can be used as a mini survival kit itself.
This watertight match box would be a good container
for making a separate fishing kit with hooks, line, sinkers, swivels,
and even small artificial baits. Best use of this item other than
storing matches is to create your own mini survival kits. Even with
20 matches inside, there is still about an inch of room left on
top that you could add other gear to. Small, compact, and travels
easily. Keeps things dry.
You can fit 6-8 of the emergency
tinders in one of the match boxes and have backup tinder. It's
always a good idea to have backups unless you prefer to find dry
tinder in the woods. Dry tinder is difficult to find in woods. Most
things found on the ground will not work because of the moisture
they retain. Placing potential tinder such as leaves, pine needles,
or strips of inner bark inside your clothing so your body heat can
dry them out is useful and effective if needed. You can also create
your own tinder.
Note: If you keep safety survival matches in
this match safe, also include the striker from the match box. Flint
does not light those matches. To create a spark using the flint,
use your knife to scrape it and aim the sparks toward your tinder.
