Being that today marks the 108th birthday of Dr. Seuss, I thought I’d try my hand at a Seussical sounding poem. I loved Seuss as a kid and my own children each had their favorites as well. Besides, did you know Dr. Seuss had a prepping mindset? Sure did, here’s a quote from him:
“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”
Here’s my own admittedly amateur attempt at a prepping themed Seuss poem.
The sky is falling.
Where is my gun?
Society is finished,
The government is all done.
People have no gas, food, or clean water.
Good thing I have my hogs to slaughter.
We thought the predictions
Were all off base.
But we prepped and we stockpiled
Just in case.
“You’re crazy, you’re nuts”
Was what they all would say.
But I knew in my heart that
Our preps would save the day.
Bug out bags and emergency kits
Were stocked and stored.
In order to stay ahead
Of the coming horde.
We planned and we prepped
And prayed to the Lord
That we’d never really need
All the stuff we could hardly afford.
As our society topples
And the economy sinks low
I fight the good fight,
Trying not to say “I told you so!”
